We are all tired of the lectures-the constant news feed, the commercials, the government mandate, the caution from friends and family... all reminding us of our battle with COVID-19.
However, as much we are tired of the isolation, the constant reminders to social distance, and wear marks, this pandemic is part of our here and now.
So the question is, how can we keep ourselves from being numb to the point where we do nothing?....such as deciding to ignore safety precautions or engage in the other extreme where we become hypervigilant about the pandemic to the point where we are overly burdened by anxiety.
The answer is balance!
Like anything else in life, we need to utilize a balanced approach. What does balance look like in this environment? Here is a list of recommended tips:
- Minimize your news intake. It can be overwhelming and can increase anxiety.
- Be intentional about self-care. Make it a point to...
Read a good book
Go for a leisurely walk
Return to a discarded hobby
Listen to your favorite music
Stay connected!
This can be challenging given social distancing mandates. However, being planful by scheduling time to contact and communicate with family and friends can help to reduce feelings of isolation.
- Revisit goals you have been contemplating and begin steps towards action
- Above all...stay safe!
